At APP, students are actively being prepared to tackle real challenges of Ukraine’s reconstruction.

Practice-oriented education and international collaboration play a key role in this process.

Building on the experience of the CAS Rebuild Ukraine program at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), where academia, business, and public-sector actors work together to develop real recovery projects for Ukraine, APP and BFH launched a new partnership.

In 2025/2026 academic year, through the project “Scaling up Ukraine’s Capacity to Rebuild”, supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, new elective Minor Programme “Resilient and Smart Rebuilding and Sustainable Construction” was developed and launched.

Within this Minor Program, jointly implemented by APP and the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), Master’s students delivered both online in Ukraine and in person during a Special Week in Switzerland. For the first time, students participated in an interdisciplinary module “Sustainable Construction in Action” where they designed real-world reconstruction projects for Ukraine, receiving joint supervision and mentoring by experts from both Ukraine and Switzerland.

This collaboration demonstrates how Swiss-Ukrainian academic partnerships can strengthen professional competencies, facilitate knowledge exchange, and prepare a new generation of professionals who will play a key role in Ukraine’s recovery.

Together, we are investing in knowledge that helps rebuild the future.
