The Winter School «Modern Printing from a Digital Model to Automated Production» was held at the initiative of the Department of Computer Technologies in Publishing and Printing Processes, the Institute of Printing Art and Media Technologies, APP, on February 24–26, 2026. The purpose of the event is to present information about the development of new specialties in modern printing to the younger generation in the most accessible and interactive way.
The participants of the event included students of Secondary School No. 40 in the city of Lviv and students of the Lviv Printing Professional College of the Ukrainian Academy of Printing.
The Head of the Department of Computer Technologies in Publishing and Printing Processes, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Mykhailo Verkhola, spoke about the priorities of such majors as Information Systems and Technologies and Automation, Computer-Integrated Technologies and Robotics in the context of the development of modern printing. In particular, it was emphasized that the integration of information technologies, artificial intelligence, next-generation robotic systems, and engineering in printing represents a new era of creativity and efficiency.
As part of the Winter School, participants became acquainted with the use of the latest digital and artificial intelligence technologies in modern printing. In particular, they had the opportunity to:
- practically explore the application of VR, AR, MR, and 360° video/photo technologies in printing production processes in the Immersive Technologies Laboratory;
- directly participate in the use of 3D printing in the Additive Technologies Laboratory.
- visually observe the programmed work cycle of a robotic complex in the Laboratory of Microprocessor Technology and Mechatronic Systems;
and become acquainted with modern printing methods of information protection based on the use of QR codes, NFC chips, and LED elements.
