On May 18, 2026, as part of the project “EU Global Responsible Leadership: Climate Change, Environmental Protection, and Humanitarian Aid” (EU_LEAD), supported by the Jean Monnet Action of the Erasmus+ program, a public lecture was held by Oleg Tsebenko, Ph.D. in Political Science, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of APP, on the topic “The EU as a Global Responsible Leader” for faculty and students of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Kharkiv).
During the public lecture, dedicated to the global leadership of the European Union, the distinctive features of the EU’s global leadership in contemporary international relations, its strategic priorities, and mechanisms of influence on global political processes were examined. Participants had the opportunity to discuss current trends in the development of the European Union, as well as its significance as one of today’s key global actors.
During the lecture, special attention was paid to EU programs and initiatives, and the European Union’s leadership in the areas of humanitarian aid, combating climate change, protecting human rights, and supporting democratic values was analyzed. A separate section of the lecture addressed Ukraine’s European integration, EU support amid the Russia-Ukraine war, and the prospects for Ukraine’s future membership in the European Union.
In concluding the meeting, the speaker emphasized the importance of developing democratic institutions, upholding European values, and strengthening Ukraine’s European integration course as a vital component of the country’s contemporary democratic development.
In total, about 20 people participated in the event—faculty members of the Department of International Relations and master’s students in the “International Relations” program at V. N.
