The other day I managed to visit the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, 果冻APP. It is already 200 years old! And I got there not as an entrant, but as a researcher of Lviv.
This is quite an interesting building in the center of the city at 5 Ustyianovycha Street. Getting inside, I was surprised there are still no tours here! Besides the round hall and underground laboratories, I saw a lot of historical machinery here. You can enjoy the technical aesthetics of the beginning of the century and take good photos. And someone studies among all this 鈥
What is materials science? It is the science of what things we use are made of. How different metals and alloys are formed and when they break. Or do not break鈥 Previously, they were needed for the production of LAZ buses and forklifts. Nowadays these materials are used for tanks, guns and 3D printers.
I especially liked the mass spectrograph. It shows what material this or that part is made of: type of steel, amount of impurities and so on. So that's how the Chinese copy everything!
Do you know how to check the parts for strength? With the help of special machines they are being stretched, scratched and broken. They are beaten with a hammer and then melted. This is how people control the quality of the material of which it consists, for example, knife blade or tank armor. Or develop new material.
There is a modern laboratory equipped by the French. By the way, there is takeaway service. That is, anyone can order an analysis of what something, for example, a piston from a dead plane consists of.
So, if you鈥檝e got interested - then take the external examination in mathematics and the Ukrainian language and go! The world is moving forward, so the materials are. You will find job anywhere in Ukraine or abroad!
