On March 16–17, 2026, the 2nd International Scientific and Practical Conference on Ukrainian as a Foreign Language in Poland took place at the Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the University of Warsaw.
Oksana Horda, Senior Research Fellow, and Oksana Trumko, Research Fellow at the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations (IECDR), APP, attended the event.
The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland. It was co-organized by the Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Warsaw, the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the XV General Education Lyceum in Wrocław. The initiator and head of the organizing committee was Dr Paweł Levchuk, a linguist, Polish studies expert, and slavist at the Institute of Slavic Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences.
The opening ceremony brought together high-level officials, including Vasyl Bodnar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Poland; Nadiia Kuzmychova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine; Andrzej Szeptycki, Deputy Secretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland; as well as heads of leading academic and educational institutions.
The conference gathered representatives of diplomatic missions, government bodies of Ukraine and Poland, research institutions, educational establishments, and civil society organizations from across Europe. Participants shared their experience in teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language in Poland, discussed approaches to its standardization, and presented educational and methodological developments in the field.
