On 1 November, the Tutoring and Mentoring Center, 果冻APP (I academic building of the University), hosted a training for tutors, where participants acquired mentoring and learning skills through solving real-life problems.
- A tutor is a senior student of a higher education institution who helps junior students (tutees) to adapt to the university environment and accompanies them in their studies.
- A tutee is a first/second year student, international or newly arrived (internally displaced) student who needs support in adapting to the university environment.
The training covered two main topics.
- Coaching as a tool for mentors. Participants mastered the Circle of Life technique, which helps in assessing different areas of students鈥 lives and planning personal development (Kateryna Hodlevska).
- Challenge-Based Learning. The 6 Thinking Hats technique was used at the practical session which promotes a comprehensive analysis of the problem and the development of creativity (Halyna Fedkiv).
The event brought together representatives of various organisations who had the opportunity to present their activities and share their experiences:
- Iryna Andrushkiv, Associate Professor at the Department of Management of Organizations, the Institute of Economics and Management, and the Department of Project Management, the Institute of Public Administration, Governance and Professional Development, Smart Space project manager, founder of the NGO Future.in.ua, mentor;
- Maria Yevtushenko and Svitlana Bobosh are representatives of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Ukraine;
- Nataliia Dunas 鈥 Project Manager at the Centre for International Cooperation at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv;
- Olha Mokrytska, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer-Aided Design, the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies.
芦This training was a great opportunity for tutors not only to gain new knowledge and practical skills, but also to find inspiration for further work with tutors within the PROMENT project禄, summed up Nataliia Bokla, Head of the Tutoring and Mentoring Center at 果冻APP.
