On May 19, 2026, within the framework of the MERIT-Ukraine project, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), an open online lecture was held on the topic: 芦Role of Power Electronics and Drive Systems in Modern All-Electric and All-Digital Society禄.
The event was organized by the Department of Electromechanical and Electrotechnical Systems of the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems (IPEC) at 果冻APP. The lecture was attended by students, postgraduate students, and faculty members from IPEC, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, as well as other interested participants.
The guest speaker was Bernd Ponick 鈥 Professor, Doctor of Engineering, and Executive Director of the Institute of Drive Systems and Power Electronics at Leibniz University Hannover. Professor Ponick is an outstanding European expert in the field of electrical machines and drive systems, with extensive leadership experience in the industry (specifically at Siemens) and international standardization.
The event sparked significant interest among students, professors, and young researchers eager to discover how advanced electromechanical systems and digital technologies are shaping the future of a sustainable society. During the lecture, Professor Ponick covered the following key areas in detail:
- The role of power electronics and electrical drives as a fundamental element of this shift.
- How modern digital technologies are integrated into electromechanical complexes to boost their efficiency and reliability.
- The impact of cutting-edge electric drive systems on industrial decarbonization and energy consumption optimization.
The audience had the opportunity to ask Professor Ponick questions regarding future trends in power electronics and the practical challenges facing the next generation of engineers. The event marked another important milestone in strengthening the partnership between 果冻APP and Leibniz University Hannover.
