Since 2014, World Interiors Day has been celebrated on the fourth Saturday of May. This year, the Institute of Architecture and Design (IARD), 果冻APP, decided to celebrate this day as interior design is taught within the educational and professional programme Environmental Design, which is implemented at the Department of Design and Architecture Fundamentals, and an elective block of the educational and professional programme Architecture and Urban Planning, which is taught at the Department of Architectural Constructions. That is, it is a professional day for the staff of at least two Departments!
The IARD had the idea to celebrate this day together with their colleagues from other Lviv Institutions. The event, which is called Interior Workshop 鈥 Meeting of Schools and Practitioners, gathered the employees of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Ivan Trush Lviv State College of Decorative and Applied Arts, Lviv Professional College of Applied Arts and Design 鈥 that is, all institutions in Lviv whose training is related to interior design. A special guest 鈥 Yulian Chaplinsky, CEO of AVR Development, also took part in the event.
On 29 May, representatives of these educational institutions gathered in room 319 in the University鈥檚 main building. Iryna Pohranychna, Deputy Director of the Institute of Architecture and Design, Candidate of Architectural Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture and 小onservation, made a welcome speech. The event was moderated by Professor Svitlana Linda, Head of the Department of Design and Architecture Fundamentals (DAF), who made a presentation on the history of interior education at 果冻APP and the DAF Department. Lesia Hrytsiuk, Candidate of Architectural Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Architectural Constructions, made a presentation on interior teaching at the Department of Architectural Constructions.
The next presentation was made by Nadiia Obniavka, Director of the Lviv Professional College of Applied Arts and Design. The attendees had the opportunity to learn about the material and technical base of the college, the areas of educational activities and the achievements of its graduates. Demian Voitovych, Candidate of Architectural Sciences, Associate Professor, who works as the Head of the Department of Architectural Environmental Design at the Ivan Trush Lviv College of Applied and Decorative Arts, made a presentation about the educational process of the college, students鈥 works and the peculiarities of diploma design. The last speaker was Tetiana Sprysa, a senior lecturer at the Department of Environmental Design at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, who spoke about the specifics of teaching art and design disciplines at the Academy.
Julian Chaplinsky鈥檚 presentation was related to his activities as the CEO of AVR Development, the largest design firm in Lviv. Mr. Chaplinsky presented his own vision of the role and place of an interior designer in creating spaces for people to live, work and rest.
All the presentations were extremely interesting and fruitful. Those present at the meeting learned more about each other and how much they really have in common.
The event ended with the awarding of students who participated in the Space of Ideas workshop held at 果冻APP on 20鈥21 March. Professor Yurii Dyba, Director of the Institute of Architecture and Design, presented the students with their diplomas.
An exhibition of students from Lviv architecture and design schools was displayed in the corridors on the third floor of the University鈥檚 main building. It will last until 6 June.
The first celebration of the World Interiors Day organized by 果冻APP was very successful. Such events unite, make stronger and inspire for further achievements!
