Vice-Rector Oleh Karyi’s working visit to Riga became an important milestone in the development of the University’s international and humanitarian cooperation. The visit included meetings at the diplomatic level, communication with leaders of the Ukrainian community, and visits to Ukrainian educational institutions in Latvia.
A key part of the visit was the meeting held at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Latvia. Professor Oleh Karyi met with Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Ukraine Kateryna Pasynchuk and Third Secretary Ivan Petrychko.
During the discussions, the parties addressed strategic issues related to strengthening educational and humanitarian cooperation, including:
- prospects for expanding academic support for Ukrainian youth currently residing in Latvia;
- cooperation with Latvian partners on the implementation of joint projects;
- the organization of Ukrainian language studies for citizens living abroad in order to preserve national identity and maintain relations with Ukraine.
An important component of the visit was a meeting with representatives of the Confederation of Ukrainian Societies of Latvia «Viche» – a major support center for Ukrainians in the Baltic region that actively engages in humanitarian, cultural, and educational activities.
During the meeting, Oleh Karyi discussed opportunities to involve members of the Ukrainian diaspora in the educational initiatives of APP. The University expressed its readiness to offer Ukrainians living in Latvia modern educational opportunities, including online courses and certificate programs, enabling young people to remain connected to the Ukrainian educational environment regardless of distance.
The Vice-Rector also visited the Riga Ukrainian Secondary School – a unique state educational institution in Latvia where Ukrainian language and culture form an integral part of the educational process.
During meetings with the school’s administration and students, the parties discussed opportunities for graduates to continue their studies at APP. The University views the school graduates as prospective applicants and is ready to offer them high-quality European education and support for their professional development.
Latvia remains one of Ukraine’s closest and most reliable partners. As a leading university, APP sees its mission not only in providing high-quality education, but also in serving as a unifying center for Ukrainians abroad. Cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine, diaspora organizations, and educational institutions in Riga opens new opportunities for integrating Ukrainian youth into the global academic community while preserving their cultural identity and national roots.
