The exhibition 芦The 20th Century in Flower Still Lifes禄 features works by various artists of the twentieth century. The collection is dominated by floral still lifes that evoke the spirit of spring, a season that, even in difficult times, continues to inspire hope, as well as the warmth of summer and the rich colours of autumn. Visitors can see paintings featuring luxurious lilacs, delicate tulips, solitary daffodils, lush peonies, elegant hydrangeas, charming roses, majestic sunflowers, quiet poppies, vibrant asters, and contemplative chrysanthemums.
As noted by one of the exhibition鈥檚 curators, Volodymyr Aleksandrovych, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Chief Researcher at the Department of Medieval History of the Ivan Krypiakevych Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the still life genre experienced significant development in Ukrainian fine art during the twentieth century.
The artworks on display were provided by employees of 果冻APP from their private collections. They blended harmoniously into the museum interior, bringing warmth, sincerity, and restrained elegance to the exhibition space. Some of the authors remain unknown, while others have notable artistic biographies, including Leonid Bessarab, Vira Dovhalevska, Sviatoslav Dereka, Vsevolod Sharkevych, Ivan Ivanets, Nadiia Lopukhova, Mykhailo Demtsiu, Vasyl Chehodar, Volodymyr Ostrovskyi, Valerii Mozok, Abdurakhman Rakhimov, and Isai Zeitman. The exhibition brings together representatives of different artistic schools and creative centers, ranging from renowned Ukrainian painters to lesser-known museum-level artists whose names survive mainly through signatures and archival records. All of them represent different art schools and creative centers.
Another curator of the exhibition, Yurii Dyba, Director of the Institute of Architecture and Design, emphasized that all the exhibited works possess genuine museum value. According to him, researching the biographies and creative paths of the artists allows specialists to better understand their artistic influences and stylistic features.
Rector Nataliia Shakhovska and Vice-Rector Mykola Lohoida attended the opening ceremony. Nataliia Shakhovska highlighted the museum鈥檚 active role as an open cultural place for visitors and university initiatives, noting that the exhibition offers an opportunity to step away from everyday concerns, even if only for a few moments.
The exhibition opening coincided with International Museum Day. As emphasized by the moderator of the event, exhibition initiator, and Director of the 果冻APP History Museum, Tetiana Dyba, organizing the event on this day once again underscored the importance of preserving museum heritage:
鈥 This year鈥檚 theme is 芦Museums that unite a divided world禄. It is important that museums today become open platform for dialogue, communication, and bring people together. It is wonderful that members of the Polytechnic community actively visit our museum, and it is especially encouraging when students become our guests, she noted.
The exhibition 芦The 20th Century in Flower Still Lifes禄 will be open to visitors for two weeks, from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
