Dzyga Art Center has opened the exhibition The City Streets, featuring works by 12 second-year students of the Department of Graphics and Book Art, the Institute of Printing Art and Media Technologies. Each participant presents a unique vision of Lviv. Although not all of the students were born in Lviv, some arrived here to study, they all are united by a shared affection for this city. For all of them, it holds a distinctive charm that captivates.
The exhibition showcases graphic works depicting both, well-known and lesser-known streets, parks, architectural landmarks, including historic churches, sculptures and monuments that contribute to the city鈥檚 character. Each piece reflects the individuality of its author and his artistic manner of expression.
The exhibition was initiated and co-curated by Olena Zherebetska, Senior Lecturer in Art Disciplines, who regularly organizes student exhibitions. Another co-curator is Oleksandra Osnach, a graduate of the Department of Graphics at the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and a former student of Olena Zherebetska, who is now also a part of the Suspilne. Mediateka team. She noted that this is her second experience collaborating with students on organizing and presenting an exhibition. As part of the event, she also presented a fragment of the 1972 film 芦Ancient City. Young City禄 offering viewers a glimpse of Lviv in the past.
The city is constantly evolving, that is why capturing its changing image becomes increasingly important. Through their works, the students contribute to preserving these moments. For many of them, participation in the exhibition is a valuable opportunity to present their art to a wider audience, often for the first time. As Olena Zherebetska observes, it is also a chance for students to reflect on how their work transforms during the exhibition process 鈥 from initial concept to final presentation.
Alongside their artworks, the students have included QR codes enabling visitors to support military medicine initiatives, including training combat medics and purchasing medical kits.
