In 2014, the leadership of the Institute of Law, Psychology and Innovative Education of the National University “APP” made a decision to create the Department of Theoretical and Practical Psychology (TPP).
Since 2015, the Department of Theoretical and Practical Psychology has begun training students in the speciality “Practical Psychology”.
Since 2017, the Department of Theoretical and Practical Psychology has opened a postgraduate program in the speciality 053 Psychology.
Since September 2017, the Department of Theoretical and Practical Psychology has been training students in the speciality 053 Psychology at three educational levels:
- first (bachelor's) level;
- second (master's) level;
- third (postgraduate) level.
From 08/29/2025, the management of the Institute of Law, Psychology and Innovative Education of the National University "APP", in accordance with Order No. 542-1-10, decided to disband the Department of Theoretical and Practical Psychology (TPP) and create the Department of Practical Psychology of Mental Health (PPMH) on its basis.
The Department of Practical Psychology of Mental Health (PPMH) trains students in the speciality C4 Psychology at three educational levels:
- first (bachelor's) level;
- second (master's) level;
- third (postgraduate) level.
Since March 2025, the head of the Department of Practical Psychology of Mental Health (PPMH) was appointed as the candidate of psychological sciences, Orishchyn-Buzhdyhan Lydia Stepanivna, who has been waiting for her to this day.
The Department of Practical Psychology of Mental Health (PPMH) employs 53 scientific and pedagogical workers, of whom 9 are Doctors of Psychological Sciences, 9 are Doctors of Pedagogical Sciences, and 19 are Candidates of Sciences. The team provides professional and practical training disciplines.
The department employs practising psychologists and psychotherapists in external areas, including symbol drama, Gestalt therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, psychoanalysis, and art therapy.
In October 2023, the department created a Psycho-Hub to provide free psychological assistance at three levels:
- consulting assistance;
- development of professional skills;
- psychological support.
In 2023, the department provided a grant within the framework of the British Twinning project (£80,000) with the support of Cormack Consultancy Group (UK) and Mosaik Education (UK), as well as cooperation with Gareth Williams, Deputy Dean for Resources and Planning at Nottingham Trent University, who launched a unique double degree program - "Psychology / Mental Health and Psychological Wellbeing".
Ukrainian master's degree program with British standards in the field of mental health, trauma and psychological well-being.
Studying takes place online - students maintain full access to resources, libraries and support from Nottingham Trent University.
In 2024, the implementation program was continued at the expense of a new grant (£60,000), and the program itself successfully passed the international accreditation agency ZEvA (Germany), valid until 2031.
