The Department of Philosophy, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Science, APP, invites students and members of the Polytechnic community to participate in the Summer School of Philosophy «Just War Concepts: Origins, Evolution, and Contemporary Challenges», which will take place from June 2 to 5, 2026.
Can war ever be morally justified? This question has been shaping philosophical thought for centuries and has become one of the foundations of modern military ethics and international law. The aim of the Summer School is not only to explore the historical development of just war theory, but also to provide participants with intellectual tools for analyzing contemporary global crises. During the program, participants will examine key challenges of the modern world, including how to protect freedom, uphold justice, and defend democratic values in times of conflict and uncertainty.
The Summer School will be held at the Student Library, Student Space «3rd Floor», 3 Mytropolyta Andreya Street. Classes begin daily at 11:00 a.m.
To participate in the Summer School of Philosophy, must be completed by May 31, 2026.
