On May 13, 2026, APP will host the intellectual discussion «Language, Culture and Memory: How We See Ukraine». The event will take place in the Zachariewicz Hall (Room 214) in the university’s main building and is dedicated to the manual on Ukrainian as a foreign language «Artistic Walks with IECDR» (Mystetski prohulianky) for levels B2–C1.
Before becoming a textbook, «Artistic Walks with IECDR» was launched as a series of video interviews featuring prominent representatives of Ukrainian culture, including Halyna Kruk, Oksana Zabuzhko, Ihor Kalynets, Borys Humeniuk, Taras Kompanichenko, and The Telniuk Sisters. Each section of the publication is centered around a conversation with an artist whose perspective reveals a unique dimension of Ukrainian culture.
The discussion will focus on the importance of preserving intergenerational continuity, especially in the context of the ongoing war and the role of Ukrainian artists within it. Participants will also address the targeted destruction of Ukrainian cultural figures and cultural heritage – one of the key objectives pursued by the Russian occupiers as part of the broader genocide against Ukrainians – and explore ways of resisting these attempts.
The event participants include:
- Halyna Kruk – writer, literary critic, and participant in the Artistic Walks with IECDR project;
- Roman Yatsiv – art critic and artist;
- Iryna Kliuchkovska – Director of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations and co-creator of the project concept;
- Nazar Danchyshyn – IECDR researcher and author of the project.
The organizers invite everyone interested in Ukrainian studies to attend. Admission is free of charge. The event begins at 13:30.
